Goa human rights commission issues notice to Goa University over underwear parade at culture fest

Digital Goa, 10, July – The Goa Human Rights Commission(GHRC) has issued a notice to the Vice-Chancellor of Goa University after taking suo motu cognizance of newspaper reports about male students being made to parade in their underwear during a recent cultural fest on campus. The Commission, referring to reports published in the local media today, July 10, observed that the incident, prima facie, appears to be a violation of the human rights of the students involved. The Vice-Chancellor has been directed to submit a report or reply before the Commission by July 23, 2025, either in person or through an authorized representative. The incident which took place during the university’s annual fest has sparked widespread criticism.
