Digital Goa, July 29 – High Court today ordered an immediate halt to GTDC’s beach beautification work at the Morjim Turtle Nesting beach. The work which had commenced on July 24 using 2 JCBs has resulted in widespread damage to the ancient sand dune bank of the beach. State assured the court today that all work at the site will be forthwith suspended till further orders. The Rs 9 crore beach beautification and amenities creation project was started by GTDC on the basis of NOC from the GCZMA and the panchayat sans permissions from other agencies, the petitioners alleged. PIL in this regards was filed yesterday, and came for urgent hearing this morning. The matter will be heard next on August 8.
