Digital Goa, August 6 – A meeting of stakeholders, including taxi unions and MLAs, will be held between August 20 and 25, after the Assembly session, to discuss and decide on the controversial taxi aggregator issue. CM Pramod Sawant informed the House that no decision on taxi aggregators will be taken until the meeting is held. Responding to concerns raised by opposition MLAs over the Transport Department’s draft guidelines for allowing app-based taxi services like Uber and Ola in Goa, Sawant clarified that the guidelines are not final and only in the draft stage. He assured that a final decision would be taken only after consultations with stakeholders. Earlier, several MLAs demanded a clear assurance that taxi aggregators would not be permitted in the state to protect the interests of local taxi operators.
