Goa to set up State Maritime Board, shipbuilding degree course on anvil: Phal Desai

Digital Goa, Sept 15, 2025 – The Goa government will establish a State Maritime Board to streamline policies, boost shipbuilding, promote maritime tourism, and support local fishing communities. Announcing the initiative, Minister Subhash Phal Desai said it aims to benefit both large industries and small enterprises while encouraging youth to consider maritime careers. The government is also exploring the launch of a degree course in shipbuilding to link education with employment and create a skilled workforce for the sector. He was speaking on the sidelines of the Shipbuilding Conference – India’s Shipbuilding Roadmap towards Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047.
