Digital Goa, Sept 17 – Seva Pakhwada was launched in Goa today with several initiatives, including the release of financial assistance worth ₹62 crore to Self-Help Groups(SHG), appointment of Swayampurna Sakhis, sanction of 48 Aajeevika Vehicles and the launch of new projects under SVEP. Speaking at the launch in Panaji, CM Pramod Sawant urged people and businesses in the state to give preference to Indian goods. Announcing a series of programmes for women’s empowerment, Sawant said that under the Matru Vandana scheme, women giving birth to a daughter will be given ₹5,000, while those giving birth to a second daughter will be given ₹6,000. He further informed that so far, 50,000 women in Goa have been given loans amounting to ₹350 crore. Seva Pakhwada is a 15-day nationwide campaign, observed every year from September 17 — the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi — to October 2 — the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi and features welfare scheme launches, health camps, cleanliness drives, livelihood initiatives, awareness programmes etc.
