Digital Goa, Sept 18 – Opposition parties in Goa have strongly condemned the attack on activist Rama Kankonkar, demanding swift action from the police to bring the perpetrators to justice. LoP Yuri Alemao termed the incident a “cowardly act” and said Goa was witnessing a disturbing rise in “goondagiri,” where individuals who speak out against wrongdoing are targeted. “We cannot tolerate such incidents that silence whistle-blowers and undermine the voice of dissent,” Alemao said. Goa Forward Party president Vijai Sardesai said the assault was not just on Kankonkar but “an attack on every Goan who dares to question those in power.” He added that his party would not remain quiet and would continue to press for justice. AAP MLA Venzy Viegas warned the police of a loss of credibility if the culprits were not apprehended within 24 hours. “If the Goa Police cannot catch the culprits within 24 hours, no one will trust the Goa Police,” Viegas said. Condemning the attack in peace loving Goa, Minister Ramesh Tawadkar said he will demand thorough investigation in the matter.
