Digital Goa, Sept 18 – The Department of Home has declared manufacturing, packaging, distribution and transportation of pharmaceutical products as essential services under the Goa Essential Services Maintenance Act(ESMA), 1988. Strike in these services would prejudicially affect the maintenance supplies and services necessary for the life of the community and would result in the infliction of grave hardship on the community, states the communique issued in this regards. First invoked in June 2023, the government has since issued multiple extensions of this act for private pharma companies.
