Digital Goa, Sept 29– Directorate of Enforcement (ED), Panaji Zonal Office, conducted a search operation at the premises of a shop at Mapusa Municipal Market on September 26 under the provisions of the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA), 1999. The action followed specific inputs received from Airport Customs, Goa, regarding the seizure of foreign exchange worth approximately USD 35,000. During the raid, ED officials seized foreign currency equivalent to around ₹3 lakh, Indian currency amounting to ₹13 lakh, incriminating chits, records of illegal forex transactions, and two mobile phones. Initial examination of the digital evidence revealed telephonic chats and communications suggesting that the shop owner was engaged in unauthorized foreign exchange dealings, with the total value of such transactions estimated to be between ₹2–3 crore, informed ED.
