Goa Police clarify: no truth in recent child kidnapping attempt reports

Digital Goa, October 26, 2025 – Goa Police have confirmed that three recent reports of alleged kidnapping attempts in Valpoi, Bicholim, and Panaji were false. Investigations revealed that no such incidents occurred, with two children admitting they fabricated the stories to avoid parental pressure. Police have urged the public to stay calm, avoid spreading unverified information, and counsel children to speak truthfully. The advisory appeals to students to confide in parents or teachers instead of creating panic, stressing the need to build a safe and responsible community. “In Valpoi, a 12-year-old boy claimed two men in a car tried to kidnap him, but locals denied witnessing the event. In Bicholim, a 13-year-old boy alleged an attempt by men in an Eco vehicle, but later admitted to fabricating the story to avoid parental pressure over his studies. In the Panaji case, a 12-year-old student from Taleigao confessed in the presence of an NGO that his claim of an abduction attempt was untrue,” informed police.
