IFFI 2025: Where Cinema, Culture and Creativity Meet in Goa

Every November, Goa transforms into more than just a sun-kissed holiday escape. It becomes a buzzing global cinema village—alive with filmmakers, dreamers, cinephiles and storytellers from every corner of the world. And this year, as the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) rolls out from November 20 to 28, the celebration promises to be bigger, bolder and far more imaginative.

Welcome to an edition where heritage meets technologytradition meets innovation and cinema is not just watched, but experienced.

A Festival With a Legacy Written in Frames

Born in 1952 and now permanently rooted in Goa since 2004, IFFI is South Asia’s only FIAPF-accredited competitive film festival. It’s a space where classic film reels sit comfortably next to AI-generated shorts, and where India’s creative energy meets the world’s artistic voices.

This year, 240 films from 81 countries will light up IFFI’s screens—proof that the festival isn’t just surviving in the streaming age, it’s thriving.

Japan, Spain, Australia: A Global Cinematic Handshake

Every IFFI edition selects countries that bring fresh cultural conversations to Indian audiences. The 2025 lineup is particularly exciting:

  • Japan – Country of Focus, with six contemporary films showing its emotional, artistic and genre-rich depth.
  • Spain – Partner Country, introducing vibrant cinematic flavours and creative collaborations.
  • Australia – Spotlight Country, shining a light on its bold, diverse storytelling landscape.

This tri-continent exchange reflects IFFI’s belief: cinema becomes richer when borders dissolve.

And as Goa gets ready to host another unforgettable edition, one thing is clear:
IFFI is not just a festival. It’s a movement—celebrating stories, creativity, collaboration and the power of imagination.
