Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that Goa is steadily positioning itself as India’s most preferred shooting destination, not just for its scenic locations but due to policy reforms designed to make filmmaking easier and more efficient. Speaking at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2025, Sawant said the festival acts as a “bridge between Indian talent and global possibilities,” while also showcasing Goa’s cultural diversity to the world.
Sawant highlighted that the state’s Film Finance Scheme, which offers funding of up to ₹50 lakh depending on the category of film, has strengthened support for filmmakers. Revised shooting rules designed for quicker clearances are already in place, and the government is working toward full single-window clearance to simplify permissions further.
The Chief Minister said Goa is committed to developing itself as a global film production hub, supported by national incentive schemes for foreign productions, promotion through the Film Bazaar, and visibility on international platforms. “We are reviving more structured incentive models that match global film destinations because we want filmmakers to choose Goa not only for its beauty but for ease of work, efficiency and a supportive system,” he said.
Sawant outlined a clear goal: to make Goa the creative capital of India, strengthen film-related infrastructure, support Goan filmmakers, build a year-round filmmaking ecosystem, and promote Goa as a top international filming destination.
He noted that this year’s IFFI theme, “Convergence of Creativity and Technology,” aligns with Goa’s ambitions to blend artistic talent with modern production capabilities.
The CM said efforts are underway to ensure that IFFI evolves into an annual celebration of Goa’s cultural landscape while deepening the state’s role in India’s growing media and entertainment industry.
