Digital Goa, Jan 13 – The Central Government has banned the manufacture, sale and distribution of all oral formulations of nimesulide above 100 mg in immediate-release form, citing health risks and the availability of safer alternatives. Following the ban, the Directorate of Food and Drugs Administration (FDA), Goa, has directed all drug retailers, wholesalers, hospitals, clinics and registered medical practitioners in the State to strictly comply with the order. Doctors have been advised not to prescribe the banned drug, while pharmacies have been told to stop its sale and return existing stock to suppliers.
