High Court appoints 2 nodal officers to scrutinise reports on illegal structures

Digital Goa, Jan 14 – High Court has appointed two nodal officers to analyse reports submitted by panchayats and municipalities regarding illegal structures within their respective jurisdictions. The court was hearing a suo motu petition on illegal constructions across Goa. Panchayats and municipalities have filed several reports detailing legal and illegal structures in their areas. To streamline scrutiny of these reports, the court has appointed the Deputy Director of Municipalities as the nodal officer for matters related to municipal areas, while the Extension Officer of the Directorate of Panchayats will act as nodal officer for panchayat areas. During the hearing Goa government told the Court that the Mhaje Ghar scheme protects only residential homes and not illegal commercial structures, informed AG Devidas Pangam.
