Digital Goa, Jan 14 – CM Pramod Sawant on Wednesday said Goa has an 86 % crime detection rate, the highest in the country. He went on to add that efforts are on to reduce Police Control Room response time from the current eight minutes to five minutes. Pointing out that 27 people were murdered in 2025 alone in Goa, LoP Yuri Alemao alleged that Goa is becoming the “murder capital of India,” Alemao also cited rising rape cases — 26 in 2021, 75 in 2022, 97 in 2023, 109 in 2024 and 102 in 2025. Speaking over the issue, Sawant noted that in many rape cases, the accused is known to the victim. CM also went on to add that prosecution mechanisms have been strengthened in the state to ensure convictions.
