CM to seek legal opinion on challenging HC order quashing Unity Mall licence, appeals for talks with villagers

Digital Goa, Jan 15 – CM Pramod Sawant on Thursday told the Assembly that the government would take legal opinion on the High Court order issued on Jan 14, which quashed the construction licence granted to the Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) for the Unity Mall project. He was responding to a suggestion by the LoP Yuri Alemao that the government should refrain from challenging the High Court order. Sawant also appealed to the Chimbel villagers to engage in dialogue with the government to resolve the issue, stating that there was no need to bring people onto the streets when matters could be settled through discussion. He said the government was willing to hold talks and had asked a delegation of four persons to come forward for discussions on the issue.
The Chief Minister further alleged that some individuals were pushing their political motives through the ongoing agitation.
