Come clear on timeline for setting up Ethanol Plant: Sugarcane farmers tell the govt

    Digital Goa, June 25- Sugarcane growers of Goa have asked the Goa govt to come clear on timeline regarding setting up Ethanol Plant at the now closed down Sanjeevani Sugar factory site. “We want the Ethanol plant to come up. For last 3 years govt is promising the Ethanol plant but is refraining from giving any deadline,” informed farmers at the meeting held at Dharbandora today. The sugarcane farmers were assured compensation for five year period in view of the closure of factory, however nearly 198 farmers have not been paid the same, claimed the farmers. The farmers meet also discussed about moving the courts over land belonging to the Sanjivani Sugar Cooperative society which has been allotted to different educational institutes by the govt.
