Digital Goa, June 27 – Worst fears of residents of smart city Panaji are coming true. With just couple of hours of heavy rain, several roads in capital city are flooded. Worst affected is 18th June Road where water level at some parts has reached knee level. Water entered in dozens of shops on 18 June Road and adjacent roads causing loss to shopkeepers due to damage of goods. There were reports of flooding on M G Road, bus stand and some other parts of the city. Rain water also entered in few houses in the city. There were sharp reactions from Panaji residents to the flooding in the first heavy showers of the season. Most expressed fears about things in store for them in the next few months of rains. Hundreds of crore worth works being taken up in the capital as part of Smart City initiative, has only added to the woes of the residents, opined locals.
