    Centre grants permission for Goa College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences at Kurti, Ponda
    Digital Goa, April, 28 – Central Government has granted a Letter of Permission (LoP) for the establishment of the Goa College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences at Kurti, Ponda, under Goa University.cThe approval, issued by the Union Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, allows the college to conduct the Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (B.V.Sc. & A.H.) degree programme with an annual intake of 40 students.The permission has been granted for the academic session 2026–27, covering the first two academic years, based on recommendations of the Veterinary Council of India, which found that the institution meets the prescribed minimum standards in terms of land, infrastructure, clinical and livestock facilities, equipment, and other requirements. The Centre has stipulated that the state must ensure compliance with all relevant rules and regulations, including appointment of qualified teaching faculty and maintenance of required infrastructure and academic standards. The approval is subject to further verification and inspections by the Veterinary Council of India. Any deficiencies or non-compliance could lead to withdrawal of permission, the LoP adds.
