Digital Goa, May 20 – A 70-year-old former director from Parcem, Pernem has been arrested by the Economic Offences Cell (EOC), Porvorim, in connection with the alleged ₹11 crore fraud involving Ashtagandha Urban Co-operative Credit Society Ltd. The accused, was arrested yesterday, May 19 as part of the ongoing investigation into the alleged misappropriation of funds linked to the credit society. He has been given 5 days police custody. He had earlier applied for anticipatory bail which was rejected by the Court. EOC had in Dec 2024, booked 11 persons, including him and other former board directors, members and other office-bearers of Ashtagandha Urban Credit Cooperative Society, Pirna, Bardez, for alleged misappropriation of the funds.
