Digital Goa, June 3 – Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday announced a 90-day tree plantation campaign across Goa from June 5 to September 5, aimed at planting around 10 lakh trees and increasing green cover. CM has sought public participation in this environmental conservation initiative. Sawant said the plantation drive will begin along National Highways and subsequently cover state highways and internal roads across the state. He appealed to local self-government bodies, citizens and school students to actively participate by planting and nurturing trees in their respective localities. The government will make saplings of indigenous tree species, including fruit-bearing trees, available through the Forest, PWD and Agriculture Departments to support the campaign.
