Digital Goa, July 2 – Goa Deposit Refund Scheme (DRS) Authority has notified that Phase I of the Deposit Refund Scheme will be implemented across the state from September 1, 2026, covering liquor and liquor-based products. Under the first phase, the scheme will apply to liquor and liquor-based commodities packed in glass, plastic, metal, and any other DRS products, including multi-layered packaging and liquid packaging boards, as may be specified by the Authority. The Authority has made it mandatory for all Producers, Importers and Brand Owners (PIBOs) dealing in liquor products to register under the Deposit Refund Scheme on or before July 31, 2026. Registration will be a prerequisite for placing such products in the market from September 1 onwards.
