Digital Goa, July 24 – The Centre has informed Karnataka that environmental and forest clearances for the proposed Mahadayi river diversion project will be considered only after the Supreme Court decides the long-pending interstate dispute with Goa, Water Resources Minister Subhash Shirodkar said, quoting a newspaper report. “That’s a very good news for Goa,” he said adding that he has not yet seen the related official documents. The Karnataka Neeravari Nigam had already secured approval for the project’s Detailed Project Report (DPR). While Karnataka has been seeking clearances to proceed with the project, Goa has continued to oppose the diversion before the courts.
