Senior citizen loses ₹4.14 lakh in suspected mobile update cyber fraud

Digital Goa, August 4 – A 66-year-old Sangolda resident was allegedly cheated of ₹4.14 lakh after his mobile phone became unresponsive following a software update, allowing fraudsters to carry out five unauthorised bank transactions. The complainant, Inacio Francisco Paulo Fernandes, told Saligao Police that only a small portion of his phone’s screen remained visible after the update. During this period, unknown persons allegedly transferred ₹4,14,301 from his bank account without his consent.
