Digital Goa, Aug 27 – Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) will launch a special drive to inspect canteens operating in government and private institutions, with contractors asked to strictly comply with food safety and hygiene standards. The move follows a surveillance drive in Porvorim where four units- three canteens serving government offices and one private restaurant were inspected. Three were directed to stop operations after serious structural deficiencies and poor kitchen hygiene were detected. They will be permitted to reopen only after compliance is verified.
