Digital Goa, Sept 11 – High Court has granted bail to Rashmi Solanki, accused in the March 2025 murder of Madhya Pradesh resident Bhavana Tomar at Hotel in Calangute, after holding that she was arrested at night in violation of mandatory legal safeguards. The court found that Solanki’s liberty was curtailed at around 11.30 pm on March 21, 2025, though her formal arrest was recorded after sunrise. Police had not obtained the prior permission of a magistrate required under Section 43(5) of the BNSS for arresting a woman after sunset.Considering the allegedly illegal arrest, circumstantial nature of the evidence, her custody of over 18 months, absence of criminal antecedents and the fact that she has a minor daughter, the court ordered her release on a ₹1 lakh bond with local sureties.
