Central Pollution Control Board has assigned officers to look into Matvem, Dabolim water bodies’ pollution: Gomes

    Digital Goa, Jan 7 – Central Pollution Control Board(CPCB) has assigned officials to inspect the petroleum leakage at Matvem, Dabolim informed Congress leader and former bureaucrat Elvis Gomes today. He said he had written to the Central pollution control body about the Matvem petroleum leakage and the contamination of wells and water bodies. In reply the CPCB has said that they have assigned officials who will look into the matter and do the needful, he informed. Elvis said he is hopeful as CPCB has capacity to take up ground water restoration works. Gomes also asserted that there is provision in law which mandates that the polluting company has to compensate people affected by such disasters.
