Digital Goa, Jan 19 – State tourism dept announced the schedule for Carnival, Shigmo and Shiv Jayanti celebrations in Goa. If code of conduct gets announced anytime in between organisers will have to comply with the same, said Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte while making the announcement of the schedule. The dept held a meeting with all the municipal council and CCP representatives in this regards today. Carnival float parades will be held in Goa from Feb 9 to Feb 13 as per the following schedule- Feb 9 – precursor event at Porvorim, Feb 10 -Panaji, Feb 11 – Margao, Feb 12 – Vasco and Feb 13 – Mapusa.
Main Shiv Jayanti program will be held at Bicholim to commemorate 350 years of coronation of Shivaji Maharaj on Feb 19 and prior to that i.e. from 16th to 19th Shiv Jayanti celebrations will be held at 6 places including Panaji, Margao, Mapusa, Mormugao, Ponda and Sakhali. Govt will give one time grant of Rs 5 lakh to the Municipal Councils to hold the event.
Shigmo will be held at 18 locations across Goa from March 26 to April 8 with the float parades commencing from Ponda on March 26. Main parades will be held in Ponda, Mapusa, Panaji, Margao and Vasco.
