HC orders demolition of 38 illegal structures at Anjuna; seeks action on Secretary for misguiding

    Digital Goa, Jan 22- High Court has ordered demolition of 38 structures constructed in No Development Zone(NDZ) at Anjuna, within the period of one week. The demolitions are to be undertaken by the Dy Collector, Bardez. The Court has also ordered Anjuna Panchayat Sarpanch, Secretary, Town Planning Department Officials, GCZMA and the Deputy Collector of Bardez to submit an action report within a week regarding the illegal constructions on this coast through an affidavit. Meanwhile, Amicus curiae Abhijit Gosavi pointed out to the Court that the Panchayat Secretary had submitted a misleading affidavit in the High Court claiming that 16 illegal structures were demolished. Gosavi presented evidence before the court that the structures were not demolished. Taking cognizance of this the Court has ordered existing secretary Jitendra Naik and former secretary Dharmendra Govekar to file an affidavit before it by Jan 31. Court has also asked Panchayat director to remain present in the Court on Jan 31 and specify as to what action will be taken against the erring Panchayat Secretary.
