🔸 *MEA’s solution to OCI card issue put ‘under consideration* ’
It appeared that the issue of those with revoked passports being denied Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cards was resolved by the April 4 office memorandum of the external affairs ministry, but a corrigendum dated April 30 says that the memorandum is “under consideration” in the Union home ministry. The corrigendum issued by the external affairs ministry to all passport-issuing authorities in India and missions abroad said that the corrigendum is a“partial modification” to the April 4 memorandum.
🔸 *Enough raw water to last up to 75 days: WRD min*
Water available in the major dams in the state is presently down to between 21% to 33%, however, water resources minister Subhash Shirodkar told TOI on Saturday that the raw water available at present in Goa is sufficient to last for 45 to 75 days. Shirodkar said that in dams like Selaulim, there is enough raw water reserve to go until the arrival of the monsoon in Goa, and even beyond.

Chief minister Pramod Sawant on Saturday said that state govt will allow those mining companies which have paid conversion fees to handle low-grade iron ore dumps as per the quantity they have declared. He said that govt will levy fees to handle the low-grade iron ore, besides the companies will be liable to pay a royalty.“We will weigh the ore before it is exported so that govt doesn’t lose any revenue in case the ore quantity is higher than what has been declared by the mining companies,” Sawant said. He said that state govt has not decided on how much fee will be charged.

The temple and devotees of Shri Devi Lairai of Shirgaon are set to celebrate the famous Lairai zatra that commences today. Festivities will conclude on Thursday.With the temple expecting thousands of devotees to attend the fair over a period of five days, the chairman of the temple committee, Ganesh Gawkar, said that many measures have been taken to avoid crowding.

The residents of Francisco Costa ward in Utorda are still grappling with irregular water supply despite Goa Human Rights Commission (GHRC) asking the Public Works Department (PWD) to expedite the replacement of old, corroded GI or galvanised iron pipelines with UPVC or unplasticised polyvinyl chloride ones in the severely-affected localities on an urgent basis.

Chandigarh-based part-time travel agent Sukhvinder Singh, accused of murdering his wife during a vacation in Arpora in 2019, was denied bail despite his plea citing medical necessity for spinal surgery to avoid paralysis. The Additional Sessions Court refused to release him over concerns of high flight risk considering his past conduct.
