May 13- Action will be initiated against the 16 KTCL employees under the Forest Act. The Forest Dept has registered case against all the accused under Section 27, 30, 31 and 32 of Wildlife Protection Act. However, all have reported to their place of work at Margao KTCL depo, informed KTCL Chairman Ulhas Tuemkar today. 10 of the accused are drivers while 6 are conductors. They have been accused of illegal entry into the Sanctuary, carrying of injurious substances, causing fire and possession of ammunition, states the ‘Intimation of arrest’ issued to the MD, KTCL by the Forest Dept. Tuemkar said that six of the accused are residing inside the Netravali Wildlife Sanctuary and the group had planned a picnic near a spring at Salgini. As per Tuemkar they have not indulged in any poaching activity but had carried chicken, mutton, fish etc along with them to the picnic spot. However, they were found using fire and preparing food inside the sanctuary, which is prohibited under the Forest Act and due action will be taken against them for violation of the Act, he added.
