CCP to relocate remains of 75 persons from Niches at St Inez Cemetery to undertake wall repair work

July 28 – Corporation of the City of Panaji(CCP) will be removing the remains of the 75 persons from Niches at Southern side boundary wall of the St Inez Christian Cemetery on July 31 to undertake the repair work of the adjoining wall. The portion of wall has collapsed following incessant rain and the remaining portion of the wall is also on the verge of collapse, informed CCP. In view of this CCP has asked family members of the deceased to remain present at the Cemetery while the work is being carried out on July 31 at 11 am. “There are around 75 niches in the affected wall and the same need to be removed before the wall collapses.The Corporation intends to provide a secure and suitable location to house the remains till the re-construction work of the said wall is completed. The individuals who have laid their loved ones to rest in the Niches of the affected wall are requested to remain present on 31/07/2024 at 11.00 am at St.Inez Cemetery or else the work will be carried out in their absence and CCP should not be held responsible for any claim arising in future,” states a public notice issued in this regards.
