Oct 15 – The High Court has disposed of the anticipatory bail plea filed by Subhash Velingkar today. According to Velingkar’s counsel, anticipatory bail has been granted to him since he applied for it, and the application stands disposed of. The intervenors in the petition, however, argued that since Velingkar appeared before the Investigating Officer at Bicholim Police Station, the question of arrest and granting anticipatory bail does not arise. Meanwhile, the High Court has also directed that certain observations made by the Additional District Judge regarding the merits of the case in his order denying anticipatory bail should be expunged from the record. The full order, which will be uploaded by the court later in the day, will provide further details on the status of the case. The investigation is ongoing, and Velingkar has been asked to cooperate with the process. Counsel for intervenor Cruz Silva, Amit Palekar, asserted that the role of the intervenor in bringing the accused to justice in the trial process begins now.
