Oct 21 – All affected Sattari panchayats have presented their say to the govt regarding MoEF & CC’s draft notification related to declaring the villages as Western Ghat’s Ecologically Sensitive Areas(ESA), informed Minister and local MLA Vishwajeet Rane.“I am confident CM will present the matter to the Center in right perspective and we will get justice,” Rane added. The state govt had sought feedbacks from various panchayats in this regards, the same was consolidated and sent to the Center with additions from State govt. Union Environment Ministry draft had put 108 villagers in the ESA list. In response to the draft, Goa govt has recommended dropping 21 of these villages. Of the remaining 87 villages proposed under ESA, 51 are from Sattari, 23 from Sanguem, 8 from Dharbandora, 4 from Canacona and 1 from Ponda.
