Decennial exposition of St Francis Xavier’s relics begins in Old Goa

Nov 21- Thousands of pilgrims have gathered in Old Goa on the first day of the decennial exposition of the relics of St Francis Xavier. The relics, transported in a grand procession from the Basilica of Bom Jesus, are now placed at the Se Cathedral for veneration until January 5, 2025. The event began with a solemn ceremony and a Eucharistic celebration attended by thousands. Accompanied by a choir and a 100 member brass band, the relics were carried on a specially designed e-carriage, marking the start of this spiritual and cultural spectacle.Around 80 lakh pilgrims from across the globe are expected to visit Old Goa in the next 45 days in view of the exposition.
