Nov 22 -Goa Police assisted the Maharashtra Police in apprehending Praful alias Pappu Bahusaheb Yadav, a known liquor smuggler, in Paliem, Pernem. Acting on inputs from the Maharashtra Crime Branch, Yadav, who hails from Sinnar in Nashik, was intercepted along with a vehicle bearing registration number MH-06-AS-9011. The operation, carried out during the intervening night of November 19-20, 2024, was part of an effort to thwart attempts to influence the Maharashtra assembly elections through illegal liquor distribution in Sindhudurg and Ratnagiri. Yadav has a history of offenses, including five prior cases under various IPC sections and the Prohibition of Liquor Act. The accused has been handed over to Sindhudurg Police, and further investigations are underway to probe his connections in Goa and beyond.
