Planned Power Shutdown announced in South Goa on December 15
Dec 13 – Electricity Department has scheduled a power shutdown on Sunday, December 15, 2024, from 7 am to 5 pm, to replace existing conductors with high-capacity ACCC HTLS “DRAKE” conductors on the 220 KV Ponda-Xeldem and 220 KV API Ambewadi lines. Entire talukas of Canacona, Sanguem and Quepem, part of Salcete, i.e (Cuncolim, Cuncolim Industrial estate, Velim, Balli, Fatorpa, Nessai, Carmona, Benaulim, Varca, Colva, and Navelim), all 33KV & 110KV consumers at Verna Industrial Estate, part of Dharbandora taluka i.e. village panchayat Kirlapal-Dabal, Shigao-Collem, Mollem and part of Ponda Taluka i.e. village panchayat Panchawadi and Selaulim water works at Xelpem will be affected due to the shutdown. The shutdown is for maintenance of interstate and intrastate lines and EHV substation at Xeldem and Cuncolim.
▪️ Power shutdown to impact water supply in South Goa
As there will be no power supply for Salaulim Water Works on December 15 there will be restricted water supply on December 16. Areas affected include Sanguem, Quepem, Salcete, Mormugao Taluka, and parts of Shiroda and St. Andre constituency.
