GMC celebrates birth of first baby born under free IVF initiative

Dec 17- Goa Medical College (GMC) marked a milestone with the birth of the first baby under the Goa government’s free IVF treatment program. The baby girl was delivered via caesarean section. Goa is among the few states in India to offer free in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment for couples, a procedure that can typically cost upto Rs 3 lakh per cycle. The initiative aims to make fertility care accessible to eligible families in the state.

Meanwhile, Health Minister Vishwajeet Rane informed that the dept has installed Digital Neuropathy Screeners and Digital Stethoscopes across Goa to enable early detection of diabetes, heart, and lung diseases. AI-powered X-rays are operational at 11 healthcare centres to accelerate lung cancer detection, he added. State-of-the-Art Molecular Lab and an additional Cath Lab at GMC Hospital are enhancing our capacity to diagnose complex conditions and perform advanced cardiac procedures with precision, he said further.
