Aug 1 – Goa Govt is in the process of designing an AI based facial recognition system to curb absenteeism and streamline staff management at Panchayats across the State, Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho informed the house today. The system will be designed through Goa Electronics Limited and will be ready within 6 months i.e. by Jan 2025, he informed. Mayem MLA Premendra Shet highlighted the hardships faced by people due to irregular timings and absenteeism among panchayat staff. Pointing out that the Biometric system is not working, Mauvin said that the proposed AI based facial recognition system will be a comprehensive system monitoring the attendance, workload, staff strength etc. The system will work sans internet connectivity, he added.
