All ambulances to be merged with 108 service: Rane

Digital Goa, June 3 – Health Minister Vishwajit Rane on Wednesday said that all ambulances will be merged with the 108 emergency response service to ensure better coordination and efficient utilisation of resources. Rane opined that there is little benefit in operating independent ambulance services alongside the 108 network. A dedicated Oncology Day Care Centre for selected chemotherapy procedures will soon be operational at the North Goa District Hospital in Mapusa, Rane informed. He also said that work is underway to operationalise the hospital’s fifth operation theatre. The minister visited the hospital to review the situation after the prolonged power outage on June 1 that disrupted services at the facility. Rane said an inquiry has been ordered into the power outage incident to ascertain the cause and identify any lapses in the system.
