Aurangabad man dies after Calangute beach assault during robbery bid; three held

Digital Goa, August 4 – A 29-year-old man from Aurangabad, Maharashtra, identified as Shaikh Sameer Akil Shaikh, who was allegedly assaulted during a robbery attempt at Calangute Beach on July 18, succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at a Government Hospital in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar on July 30. The complaint was lodged on August 3 by the victim’s brother, Shekh Sohel Akil Shaikh (20). According to the complaint, the accused, identified as Raymond Howse alias Rambo and his associates, allegedly assaulted Shaikh Sameer with the intention of robbing him of his mobile phone and other valuables. Police have arrested three accused — Raymond Howse alias Rambo (36), resident of Candolim and native of UP, Meharban Khan (61), resident of Calangute and native of UP, and Arjun Naik (22), resident of Calangute and native of Karnataka. All three have been remanded to seven days of police custody.
