Digital Goa, July 24 – Goa govt shall explore all options for vacating the High Court order directing Goa govt to declare Mhadei Wild Life Sanctuary and peripheral areas as tiger reserve, before approaching the Supreme Court in this regards, said Forest Minister Vishwajeet Rane. He said, he had a detailed discussion on the implications of the HC decision with CM Pramod Sawant and AG Devidas Pangam. “We respect the decision taken by the HC, but as a State Government, we will stand by the decision taken by the State Wildlife Board,” he asserted. Earlier this month the State Wildlife Board had rejected a proposal to set up a tiger reserve in the state contending that “the declaration of a tiger reserve at the current stage would be premature” as it does not fit the requisite criteria and guidelines of the Wildlife (Protection) Act and the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA).
