Digital Goa, June 23 – Calangute Sarpanch Joseph Sequeira who was in the eye of the storm over the order for removal of Shivaji statue today blamed the false alarm raised by local organisation that the statue would be demolished. Speaking to media, Sequeira asserted that the Panchayat order was to remove the statue from the existing location as no structures were allowed in such roadside spaces as per Supreme Court order. “I am not holding Shiv Premis who came from outside Calangute responsible. President of Shivswarajya Calangute and its members for spreading wrong information that the statue will be demolished, “he said. Section of media also fueled the fake news, he alleged.
