Digital Goa, Sept 1 – CM and Home Minister Pramod Sawant today assured the Goa Legislative Assembly that inquiries will be initiated into alleged cases of misconduct in the police Dept raised by Congress MLA Carlos Ferreira.Ferreira cited cases involving officials from the Departmental Enquiry Section and Special Recruitment Cell, a Valpoi police constable allegedly possessing disproportionate assets, and a policeman linked to the Colvale jail drugs case against whom an FIR has been registered, but who was not arrested. Ferreira asked as to how the Home Minister planned to improve policing if there was “such rot within the system”. Sawant said he would direct the DGP to inquire into all the cases and assured that those found involved would be suspended within three days if found guilty.
