GPCC President Girish Chodankar has alleged a mulit crore land scam involving Dona Paula IT park land and proposed Convention Centre. Chodankar questioned a Rs 108 crore public-private partnership deal for land he claims is worth Rs 5,100 crore. He further accused the government of turning the Rajiv Gandhi IT Habitat, originally conceived to promote IT and generate employment, into a commercial land deal. He questioned the use of over 3 lakh sq m land when the convention center is to be built on 25,000 sq m land, the proposed 60-year lease and the extent of land required for the project. He also raised concerns over its environmental impact and public consultation.
