Digital Goa, Oct 15 – Congress party is in the process of filing contempt petition before the Supreme Court against the Speaker of Goa Legislative Assembly for not deciding on the disqualification petitions against 8 Congress MLAs who defected to BJP last year. According to Congress, Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar has deliberately not complied with the mandate laid down by Supreme Court in Keisham Meghachandra Singh judgment that disqualification petitions have to be decided within three months’ time, and willfully disrespected the mandate of law as laid down by the Supreme Court. Supreme Court had recently issued notices to the Speaker and 8 defected MLAs in a petition filed by Girish Chodankar seeking directions to the Speaker to decide on disqualification petitions pending before him.
