Digital Goa, Dec 31 – Goa Electricity Department has cautioned all consumers that exceeding their sanctioned or contracted load demand will attract penalties, following the implementation of a new five-year tariff order. In a public notice, the department said the Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission (JERC) for Goa has notified the tariff order for the period from the financial year 2025–26 to 2029–30, effective October 1, 2025. As part of this order, the billing pattern for a majority of consumers has been realigned, along with revised tariff applicability for different consumer categories. The department highlighted that consumers who cross their contracted load demand will be liable to pay penalties on a proportionate basis, covering both the excess demand and consumption. Consumers have been advised to regularise their connected load in line with their actual requirements to avoid such penalties. All electricity consumers have been urged to go through the detailed tariff order available on the official Goa Electricity Department website www.goaelectricity.gov.in for complete information on billing patterns and other related charges.
