Feb 24- In a major relief for traffic movement in St. Inez-Panaji, the controversial structure at the St. Inez Church junction was finally demolished today. The demolition was carried out after the court declared the building illegal this afternoon. The large commercial structure had encroached upon the road, posing a danger to traffic. This structure, located at a crucial junction, was obstructing traffic after the roads were widened under the Smart City project. Imagine Smart City Panaji Limited was unable to take action earlier due to a court-imposed stay on the demolition. Meanwhile, the petitioners accused the government of not giving them enough time to challenge the order in a higher court.
