Dangui Colony explosion was due to leaking LPG pipe, say officials

    Digital Goa, Jan 23 – Officials today said that the explosion at Dangui Colony Mapusa was due to leakage of LPG gas through crack in the pipe connected to the stove used inside Hill Top Bar & restaurant. Fire Force Official Bosco Ferrao said that LPG gas accumulated inside the packed premises of the bar & restaurant and some source of ignition must have triggered off the fire and the blast thereon. Officials pointed out that domestic gas cylinder was used for the high intensity gas stove. The pipe used to connect the gas stove to the cylinder was a non ISI mark one and had developed a crack from which the gas leaked out, causing the mishap, the officials further added. The Fire Force officials gave a demo of the leakage by using the gas cylinder, stove and pipe which were brought from the accident site to the press briefing venue. Further action will be decided after report from other agencies like Electricity dept, Factories & Boilers etc are obtained, informed officials.
