Digital Goa, Sept 1 – The Goa government is considering extending the sale of coconuts at subsidised rates through the Horticulture Corporation, though no final decision has been taken yet, informed Corporation Chairperson Premandra Shet. During the Ganesh Chaturthi festival, coconuts procured from other states were sold at subsidised rates, with 75,000 coconuts sold in just 12–13 days through corporation outlets across Goa. If the scheme is to continue, we will need to import coconuts in lakhs and explore 3–4 more sources, Shet stated, adding that various options are currently under consideration.
