Digital Goa, Sept 7 – The Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology at Goa Medical College has introduced a comprehensive set of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), to streamline medico-legal work and related services. The SOPs cover procedures for medico-legal autopsies, morgue preservation, embalming, and free hearse van services. They also lay down detailed guidelines for police officers, medical staff, and families regarding documentation, timelines, and protocols for autopsy, preservation, and handing over of bodies. The notification emphasizes restrictions on unauthorized entry, videography or photography inside the department, and reiterates that all queries related to autopsies must be routed through the investigating officer.
